Each year the Sunday Times in the UK publishes the list of the wealthiest individuals.

There is also a list of the 30 individuals who donate the largest proportion of their wealth and the causes to which they donate.

Strangely it doesn’t provide information on the actual charities, which we think would be useful information.

The list shows that donations are not necessarily correlated with wealth. For example Gareth Bale, the Wales footballer, is between 300 and 350 on the Rich List, but 29th in terms of proportion of his wealth donated to good causes.

Champions for Change think that Gareth’s followers would be interested in knowing the actual charities he supports and the charities would benefit from having this information public.

We encourage our clients to maintain a close association with their charities and vice versa and publicise their association wherever relevant – such as the Sunday Times Rich List.
